Speaker 1:

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the Fat Loss Fast Methods podcast. This is Ryan. I'm super excited to share with you today that something I'm engaging in personally regarding carnivore fasting, and I'm going to be doing it for a whole year, and the reason I'm doing this is I'm actually looking at optimizing things for myself at this point. I'm very, very busy. I'm starting up a nonprofit with a friend of mine, i'm running a full-time health coaching business, i'm doing marketing for several different holistic and biologic dentists, so there's a whole agency happening there. So all of these things could be full-time projects, to be honest, and those are just professional responsibilities. I also have my life and everything I'm doing to engage in that, and family and all of it. So it's a lot, and I found myself waning on energy at times, like in the afternoons, or even not being able to stay up late or get up as early as I want to get things done, and that's not where I want to be, especially as someone who specializes in health and being able to have the energy you need to live the life you want. So I'm 45 and I could just go into agreement with it, but I've definitely decided not to. I'm strongly disagreeing with the idea of slowing down or anything like that. So for me, it's going to be a carnivore fasting experiment over the next year. It's starting today, june 12, 2023. And I'm going to be doing a separate channel for this on YouTube and Instagram maybe other places just tracking it to kind of give accountability for myself but also share what I'm going through. I've had amazing results with this, doing it short term, and I've had amazing results with my clients trying to lose weight, improve energy or handle things getting their supplements to work more effectively. It's pretty incredible stuff. So, not getting into any of the whether it's good or not, i've seen amazing results. There are a lot of studies which I'm going to go over one of them today which is really amazing to me. So that's what I'm going to be doing for the next year And I just want to let you know that anybody who wants to engage or learn more about the carnivore diet or fasting or how to do the two together, i will help you with that.

Speaker 1:

I've studied a lot about it. Helped a lot of clients. What's new for me on this is the strictness of it and following it for an entire year. I've done it in short stints very strictly. I've done low carb long term and I've done a lot of exercise and different techniques sauna, you know, ionic foot baths, et cetera to improve my performance in life and health in general, and they've all been amazing. But I really want to take it to that next level. You know, body composition wise, i'd like to get down again below 14% body fat. I've been hovering around 17 or 18. It's just not where I like to be. And for those of you who are looking at getting to that next level, maybe you're already pretty good spot, but you want to improve it I think the carnivore diet is definitely something you should look at. I've seen amazing results with people who are overweight and want to lose weight, but also people who are, you know, kind of good but want to take things to the next level. So it works in so many ways.

Speaker 1:

So the study I wanted to go over today to kind of back up what I'm doing, and it's probably one of the reasons that I decided to really engage in this so strictly. So there was a study I think it's back in 2020 done at Harvard And they actually it's kind of more of a the surveyed what was going on and what the improvements were with people who went on the carnivore diet and figured out you know how that compared to people who weren't on the carnivore diet. So there was a very well laid out article on it. There have been several, actually, but there are several PhDs and MDs who did the study and it was, you know, diverse. So I'm just going to go through some of the information I have pulled up here on it. So there are apparently over 3000 people originally recruited to participate in this And some of them weren't included for various reasons, ended up being about over 2000 people that participated in it And nationalities.

Speaker 1:

Most of them 64% were from the US and Canada, 11% were from Europe and 8% were from Australia. About two thirds were male, one third were female. Age range was from 18 to 85, kind of the middle median range. There was 44. And people weighed from anywhere from 84 pounds up to 388 pounds. So there's some of the highlights there.

Speaker 1:

So a lot of people were doing this for body composition reasons That was the biggest percentage, 78% But also focus and energy 74%. So I'm doing it for both of those reasons. Allergy and skin 56%. I'm doing it for skin as well. I've had some, you know, in detoxing I've had some acne that doesn't go away as thoroughly as I think it should. Mental health definitely I like that cognitive aspect. And then 11% diabetes, for doing it for diabetic reasons.

Speaker 1:

So the types of foods that we're eating the most common food that was eaten on this diet was that 85% of them ate a combination of beef, bison, lamb, goat and venison at every meal or at least daily. They also 44% also eggs. 43% ate cheese and cream. 13% ate pork daily. 53% had it a few times a week. 38% had poultry a few times a week. 36% had fish a few times a week. Organ meat was had at least once a week by 42% of the members. 52% of them also consume bone broth. 21% use some herbs and spices daily. Let's see 61% consumed a high fat meat content, 37% choose moderate fat meats and only 2% chose lean meats. 54% of them made sure they consumed 100% grain finished and predominantly grain fed meats, and then 46% consumed 100% grass fed and grass finished Interesting. So more than half were eating basically what we call conventional meats. So they were not eating grass fed and grass finished meats, which we know are the healthier meats. They have the higher omega three content, better profile of different nutrients, et cetera. So that's something to keep in mind as we go through this.

Speaker 1:

And then, what did they drink? So 57% drank coffee daily. That'll be me in the beginning. I'm gonna phase out of that, just get pure carnivore. 24% never drank coffee. 83% never consumed beer. 55% never consumed spirits. 57% never consumed wine. 43% did consume wine. 59% did not use any electrolyte supplements. I will be using them. I exercise a lot and I find they help with that. 17% did consume electrolyte supplements. Just to give you an idea. Running through it. It's not going to go through all of it, but this is interesting.

Speaker 1:

This is really interesting because I work with clients all the time and compliance is an issue People not following what they need to do to lose weight or get healthy. It's an issue for all of us. I experience it regularly because I work with clients who are struggling right And we get over that and they get where they want to go. But the compliance levels in the carnivore diet are really high And I noticed that. Personally, i couldn't figure it out because I thought well, it seems more restrictive than other diets, but listen to this. So levels of compliance compared to most diets were very high across several categories.

Speaker 1:

And go through this 89% never consumed legumes. 87% never consumed breaded or fried fast foods. 81% never consumed any candy or alcohol And, mind you, this study was done over a six month period, right? 79% never consumed any grains or sugars. 74% never consumed honey. 74% never consumed starchy vegetables, et cetera, et cetera. The list goes down. It's pretty high. Realized normal compliance rate is usually below 40%, like you have to build in cheat days for a lot of people, right? So the study just to summarize here because I went through it, but I wanted you to have some more information about how this worked So 100% of the people on this study over a six month period doing the carnivore diet And they weren't even like they weren't as strict as I'm going to be, like they were you know they just said 89% didn't consume legumes.

Speaker 1:

So we know some of them. You know 11% had legumes during this six month period, right, and you know it was only 74% didn't have sugar or something like that. So the other 26%, you know they had sugar in their diet. So all of them were staying fairly carnivore, animal based, for sure, but there was some some, you know, non-compliance a little bit. So 100% of these people came off of diet diabetics injectable medications completely 100%. 92% of diabetics came off insulin completely. 84% of diabetics came off all oral medications.

Speaker 1:

Crp this is an inflammatory protein marker. Inflammatory marker decreased significantly with all participants. There was an average weight loss of 20 pounds Realized. Some of these people weren't overweight, so this is just average. Some people lost a lot more weight than that. 90% had an improvement in all diseases, like whatever they were experiencing with their body right. So this is pretty impressive. This is pretty unheard of actually for a conventional institute to sponsor and then publish, without negative connotations, the results of what occurred on a carnivore diet, right. So we are seeing a shift here. We're seeing a shift in the paradigm And you know I'm not saying get on a bandwagon.

Speaker 1:

I'm saying be aware that this is now more and more understood for what it is an amazing, life-changing lifestyle that you should engage in or at least give a try, right? So that's what I'm doing. Hopefully that makes sense. I'm going to share that with you. I'm specifically looking for some changes in my blood work. I just got my blood work done today And I'm going to be seeing you know what happens as I go through this process, also looking for more energy, athletic performance, life performance, mental acuity and body composition improvements.

Speaker 1:

So I'm eager to share what goes on and let you know how that affects things for me and then how I think it could help you. And feel free to stay tuned on my channels At Long Jeopardy Fitness and Health for Instagram, youtube and Facebook, of course, fat Loss Fast Methods for my podcast, and I'm going to be opening a new channel at Carnivore Fasting Experiment for publishing my kind of accountability posts and what's going on information specifically on Carnivore. All right, that's all for today. Thank you so much for listening. I look forward to seeing you in the next episode.
